Why Not Ask An Expert

It Doesn’t Matter What You Know It Matters Who You Know

7 Effortless Ways to Create Lasting Business Relationships!

“People buy from people they like…” “People buy your ‘why’; they don’t buy your what.” Ask yourself how many touch points (contacts) it takes to breed familiarity and credibility.

Former guests on The Revenue Maze, V50 co-founders Allen Kaye & Lane Frank, said “Relationships you build with people are the most important thing that will save you in your business at any point.”

Very straightforward, building relationships consistently may be among the trickiest things business owners do.

7 Ways To Do This Efficiently And Effectively:

Recognize it won’t happen right away.

If you want to build relationships that will last, it’s a process and takes time. Take the time.

Golden Rule.

Genuine interest sparks connection. Get to know people. Rather than talk about everything you know and come across pushy, be interested in them.

As Catherine Brown, author of “How Good Humans Sell” states it, cut the cheese and sleaze.

Talk. Ask “what” and “how” questions.

Research.

“What” and “how” questions require knowledge about those you wish to develop and nurture connections. Learn about them. “IF” you spend time up front and research, then you can approach and listen to understand. What challenges might they face? What might they underappreciate?

How many connection requests on LinkedIn reflect zero knowledge of your world? “LinkedIn told me to connect.” “I came across your profile, and I think we should connect.” As a recipient, how did you feel?

Be relatable.

Share relatable examples of times you’ve walked a mile/kilometer in their shoes.

Interest peaks and they want to hear about what you are doing to solve issues, grow, change, etc. And maybe even how you helped someone find a solution that could also help them.

Far too often we position ourselves as feature/benefit vomiters.

Extra mile/kilometer.

Give them something extra. People love effort. Regardless of business or personal relationships. What is alarming about the “silent resignation” is that many feel unappreciated and lose engagement. Effort makes them feel special and worthy of more than what they currently believe. Everyone on this planet seeks a high sense of self-worth and if you give them a glimpse of it, you’ll win their hearts.

Exude a positive vibe.

Your energy introduces you even before you speak. People are attracted to positive energy like moths to a flame. You don’t need to be an extravert to exude energy. People who need help want someone who can lift and elevate. Practice having positive energy that makes you happy and let that energy flow in all your interactions. It doesn’t mean constantly putting on a smile. Maintain a solution-oriented approach, that emphasizes finding a way through. People stay if they feel good around you.

Be considerate.

Being considerate of others is part of “Being Human,” because we all experience the same daily struggles and personal issues.

As a result, be kind to one another and give people the benefit of the doubt. We are all fallible. Empathy and compassion bring out the best in people.

People may not remember what was said. They remember how they felt.

Data can support a decision; buy-in is emotional.
